With a grand party for about 200 people, Polar Cape marked the official opening of our new Skopje office in City Gallery at Macedonia Square. Polar Cape was founded in 2010 in Stockholm, Sweden, and the first Macedonian office opened in 2011 in Skopje. In addition to the one in Skopje, we recently opened an office in Bitola.
Polar Cape’s Skopje office has a capacity of more than 150 people. It’s spread over 1400 square meters of open workspace, adapted to company needs. It has 15 large and small conference rooms, an amphitheater for sharing educational content, as well as room for entertainment and relaxation.
The party started with a short speech by the company’s CEO, Simon Forshaw, and continued with great music and cocktails late into the night. Attendees were Polar Cape employees, as well as several Swedish and local long-term collaborators. It was our great pleasure to host the Ambassador of Sweden in the country, HE Ami Larsson Jain, who said on this occasion:
“I am delighted to see the Swedish business community in North Macedonia grow, also in the IT sector. It’s great to see that Swedish companies like Polar Cape can attract young talent from North Macedonia and combine the best of both cultures to create a stimulating work environment. Polar Cape’s Graduate Program shows the commitment of this Swedish company to not only investment in business excellence, but also in professional development of the young generations of North Macedonia.”
The founders of the company, otherwise long-time friends and collaborators, started the company with the idea of creating a work environment in which they would like to work themselves. This way of thinking has attracted numerous IT industry professionals over the years. The company attracts its employees because of its working conditions, but also because of its rich resume. It includes successfully completed projects for numerous magnates from the Swedish and international business scene.
Polar Cape is the only IT company in Macedonia that is certified by the Great Place to Work® Institute from Sweden in 2022. The company has been cooperating with the institute since 2014. We have used the data from this cooperation to constantly improve the conditions we offer to our employees.
Results from 2022 showed that 91% of employees consider Polar Cape to be a Great Place to Work. A survey average of 70% is required for certification, and Polar Cape achieved an average of 88%.
