Starting February 2019 – personal reflections

Starting February 2019, I´m excited. 2018 was an incredible year working at Polar Cape in many ways. We made so much happen in just one year.  We grew with 61 % , and now as for February the 4th  we hit 100 persons. During 2018 we were also joined by new interesting clients and we got the opportunity to new exciting collaborations with existing ones. We were also awarded the astonishing 1st place in Europe from Great Place to Work.

With that being said, looking back these achievements didn´t come without hard work and continuous improvement. Scaling up as we are also means challenges for the organization, leadership and culture. It raised questions such as; how do we keep our culture as we grow? One of the strengths of Polar Cape is our proximity to our employees, are we able to keep that when we´re 100 employees, and how do we do it?

One of the things I like with Polar Cape is the quality mindset, knowing that we´re going to level up at one time or another we started working proactive with engaging our employees in various forums where we raised these questions. A lot of useful input came out from those that we started working with, among others it resulted in one of the focus areas for us 2019; Teams. Another important event for us every year is the kick off.  With a lot of new employees in both Sweden and Macedonia our focus went on team building and stepping out of our comfort zones. The opportunity to gather the whole company at one place for a few days does a lot for the culture, it´s also a great opportunity to gain valuable insights from everyone.

Moving forward it´s not rocket science, our core business is people. An agile company – building and involving everyone in creating Polar Cape is one of our keys to move forward and has been from start.

Having a humble and pragmatic mindset, learning from our mistakes and focus on moving forward keep us away from being “fat and happy”.

Thinking about my awesome and humble colleagues and what we achieved so far through teamwork, dedication and a lot of laugh makes me proud.

I´m looking forward to our projects, collaborations and challenges this year. Also just staffed up with a Junior Talent Manager and an Office and Event Manager at HQ I´m positive that we have the right prerequisities to continue developing Polar Cape.
